Week 14: Final Project Finished Draft

Camelot: Rethinking the RenFair Camelot is a historically themed Dark Ages theme park focused on telling the history and lifestyle of Dark Ages England and their neighbors through the legends of King Arthur, both the well-known ones and the obscure ones. The goal of this park is to entertain and educate by creating a genuine historical experience with a living museum and presenting it not as a clinical reenactment but as an interactive adventure where guests can experience the history for themselves. The park is a return to the original purpose of reenactment, while reinvigorating it to make the purposes of research and education more readily appealing and accessible to an audience. Because much of the average person's perception of history, the medieval period perhaps more so than any other, is based on myths and misconceptions from movies, games, comics, and other popular culture, Camelot seeks to inject historical fact back into the pop culture, and help to correct the

Week 13: Theme Park Draft

You don’t just watch some guys s

Week 12: Theme Park High Concept

My theme park concept is based on the Arthurian legends from a Dark Ages historical perspective, focusing on the true historical background of the legends and using the legends to present those historical truths in a fun, engaging fashion. Rather than just being purely entertainment focused the park is a living museum where every turn offers something new for guests to see, do, and participate in to learn about the world of the Dark Ages and the struggles of Anglaland.

Worldbuilding Week 7: The Hill People

Dominant Trait - Interdependency Opposite Trait - Independence Common Trait - Compromise The area this culture is centered around is extremely uneven and hilly - not rocky or mountainous, just a lot of hills. Forests and plains are the most common geographical features on these hills, and there are a vast multitude of shallow, narrow streams and rivers in the low points between hills. The terrain makes it unsuitable for larger animals like horses or cattle. The society is small, and consists of two main classes of warriors and “commoners" - the warriors are not dictators however as the two classes depend on each other to survive. Without the warriors the commoners would suffer, and without the commoners the warriors would starve. While the two operate in very different manners, the society generally trades the responsibilities of leadership depending on their needs. When bandits and rival tribes threaten the shepherds and crops, or migration to new fields is necessary, the w

Worldbuilding Week 5: The Planet Artok

Artok is a cataclysm-wracked planet with an inhospitably toxic and hot atmosphere. Plant and animal life, though evidence is presence for it formerly existing, is entirely absent from the surface, and none have delved into the sludgy tar-filled oceans to determine if anything lives there, though it is strongly doubtful. Through the hazy fog of Artok's surface some artifacts of a past civilization are sparsely scattered, the constant volcanic eruptions and earthquakes picking and choosing what few things remain. Most common are "shrines" or "altars" consisting of crude stone pillars with a large circular hole in the upper end. For the most part these are found intact, indicating that much work was put into their durability. Considering the calamities that have completely ruined this planet due to its current proximity to its sun, it is agreed by most archaeologists that the society that built them either worshiped the sun or in some way sought to appease it.

Worldbuilding Week 3: Monday Again

In this primitive world, every single day is the exact same day, from morning which begins on Monday, at roughly 6:00 a.m. and ends on Tuesday at about the same time, 6:00 a.m. at which point all things are reset back to their original locations and states on Monday. The current "year" is roughly 350, based on counting purely from memory, though it is not universally agreed upon that this is the correct year or even how many Mondays should constitute a year. This gives the primitive cave dwelling people of this world exactly 24 hours to do whatever it is they feel like doing on that particular day, only for it to be completely undone and reset back to normal when the day is done. People in this world retain their memories however, and thus are quite aware of the unending cycle of this Monday. In fact, as this cycle has gone on for many years, the people are surprisingly brilliant in spite of their appearances, all having the intelligence and wisdom of someone who has bee

Worldbuilding Week 2: The Unwelcome Guests

An American office district that was destroyed in the Alien Invasion. The Aliens were highly disorganized and seemed to strike cities and structures at random - it is believed they were intending to demoralize humanity with the power of their weapons, though the actual result was much less effective than the bombing campaigns of the Second World War, ended only a few years earlier. The Great Alien Invasion of 1953 was an absolute catastrophe. Initially gaining a surprise advantage against unprepared local police forces and militias, who were as a general rule not armed to fight UFOs, the alien armies were absolutely crushed by the vastly superior militaries of the Earth, who ended the Alien War in a matter of days, leaving many aliens stranded. Some aliens have found a new career path in Hollywood. Seen here is a Neptunian, carrying a pair of swimming flippers on his way to set. The remaining, stranded aliens went to two main paths in the face of their new predicament. So
